OFFERING SERVICES TO CHILDREN AND ADOLESCENTS WITH SPECIAL NEEDS
Many children and adolescents face the world with special challenges
and unique needs. However, they need not meet these challenges without
the support of knowledgeable and caring professionals. AT the Center
for Exceptional Children, our staff is prepared to assist you and your
child in better understanding and managing their conditions. Such
ser vides may include evaluations, individual or family counseling, training
for parents, and referrals to additional professionals and programs who
may be able to assist your child in reaching their potential.
EVALUATION SERVICES
The staff at the center for exceptional children are specifically trained
to diagnosis psychological and developmental conditions in children and
adolescents. These conditions may include:
- Autism or Asperger’s Syndrome
- Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder
- Learning Disabilities
- Mental Retardation
- Processing Disorders
- Depression and Anxiety Disorders
- Conduct or Oppositional Defiance Disorders
- Elimination Disorders
COUNSELING SERVICES
Many exceptional students and their families can benefit from counseling
services. Counseling may be conducted in individual or family settings,
and may include couples counseling for parents who are learning how to
best cope with the challenges that arise from raising a child with special
needs.
REFERRAL SERVICES
In order to provide comprehensive services to children with special needs
and their families, the Center for Exceptional Children works closely
with specialists from numerous fields. Professional who are aligned with
our center include:
- Psychiatrists
- Speech and Language Pathologists
- Occupational Therapists
- Vocational placement, training, and rehabilitation services
